Welcome
Equity and Excellence in Education, The E3 Group, is an ad hoc community group of Oak Park and River Forest, IL residents. It grew out of concern over significant changes in education, especially in curriculum and instruction. Through inquiry, analysis, outreach and occasional events the group is growing community understanding on topics relevant to school Districts 200, 90 and 97. The group is open for anyone from OP or RF on the same mission.
Mission
The E3 Group exists to advocate for equity, excellence and transparency in education through objective research, civil discourse and a productive partnership with all stakeholders.
Functional Leaders
Steve Lefko, Ph.D. - Administrator
Steve operates a small social impact toy company benefiting agencies serving children without intact families. Steve earned a MS and PhD at Iowa State University and had a first career working in crop production research, product strategy and regulatory science. Steve and his wife Kim moved to River Forest in 2009 and have two daughters.
Eric Friedman - Outreach Leader
Eric is an actuary and investment consultant. He's a passionate advocate for using evidence and cost effectiveness to make the world a better place, including writing the book Reinventing Philanthropy: A Framework for More Effective Giving. He lives in Oak Park with his wife, two kids, and two cats.
